About the Fleet Beekeepers Association
The Fleet and District Beekeepers Association (FBKA) is a branch of the Hampshire Beekeepers Association, (HBA) which in turn is affiliated to the national British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). A member of FBKA is automatically entitled to membership of both organisations.
The organisation that became the Fleet and District Beekeepers Association first met on Friday, March 15th 1918 and in its constitution stated that its aims were "to assist cottagers and beekeepers by supplying them with beekeeping appliances and assisting them in the care and management of bees". The association has been in continued existence since that time and holds regular meetings and other events to promote best practice.
From this September we will be holding most of our meetings at the Willis Hall located at Sandy Lane in Church Crookham as shown below;
As a not-for-profit organisation, the Fleet and District Beekeepers Association is run on a voluntary basis for the benefit of bees and beekeepers alike. We have our own shop to provide beekeeping equipment to members at discount prices and also have a number of key items of equipment available to hire by members at very low cost including a honey extractor, cappings tray and wax melter etc.
We also have access to our own apiary located near Hook where members can keep bees subject to some simple rules around good husbandry and hygiene.
